about
through statewide exhibitions and active participation in the local scene,
Columbus based artist, Roe Snouffer, has become one of the regions most dynamic
forces in visual art. Snouffer's work has received numerous awards and honors
including work that has been purchased by the Columbus Museum of Art for their
permanent collection.
Snouffer's contemporary use of symbolism and icons is reminiscent of the early
masters, whose penchant for the nude is echoed throughout art history. His
painterly composition and palette are often remarked upon by reviewers as
"transporting his creations to a different artistic plane than other,
representational photography."
Even landscapes are treated with the essence and soul of a figure. For Snouffer
there is no difference between the curve of a neck and the curve of branch.
